Cafe Crepe (Downtown, Granville)
Cafe Crepe (map, 796 Granville St, Vancouver, BC, Canada, phone: 604-806-0834) is a restaurant that serves freshly made French style crepes, sandwiches, and Foot Long hot dogs.
The crepes are made in front of you, by smartly dressed chefs, at round grills at the restaurant’s front window. They are made sweet (try chocolate, or apple and cinnamon) or savory (pick from ham, cheese, or a bunch of other ingredients such as mushroom or spinach). Crepes (such as the ones pictured below) cost in the range of $5 to $8 depending on the ingredients. I really like the rich Emmenthal cheese and spongy crepe batter. For the Foot Long hot dog (pictured below, around $5) be sure to try their French mustard and maybe even mayo if you’re a fan.
There are two locations of Cafe Crepe very near to each other on Granville Street downtown. The smaller one (796 Granville, Cafe Crepe “express”) is located next to Future Shop just north of Granville and Robson. The larger one, further down Granville near the Commodore Ballroom (map, 874 Granville St, Vancouver, BC, Canada, phone: 604-806-084), has more sit-down tables and even a private room for parties in the back.
Sometimes they get pretty busy and there might be a bit of a wait, especially if you want to eat-in. Take out orders are usually quite fast.
The other locations of Cafe Crepe in Vancouver are:
Robson Shopping District (map, 1032 Robson St, Vancouver, BC, Canada, phone: 604-488-0045)
South Granville (map, 2861 Granville St, Vancouver, BC, Canada, 604-488-1326)
UBC Campus (map, 103-2151 Wesbrook Mall, Vancouver, BC, Canada, 604-221-1142).

Absolutely DISGUSTED!! I was in on Thursday 18th March, 2010 at around 3.15pm. I went to the takeout window as there was a sign to order there and I waited there trying to catch the only person behind the counter’s attention. A young girl with long brown hair. She saw me about 5 times but never acknowledged me or came up to me to take my order or greet me.
Another woman was there waiting for a crepe, she had been waiting over 15 minutes to receive one crepe and was pretty angry.
I continued to wait clearly looking like I was ready to order.
Another man cam to order at the window and I said I had been there a while and not ordered.
Finally I got impatient and yelled to the girl “Hello, I would like to order something” she looked at me and walked further away into the store and out of the serving area, so there was not a soul at the front counter.
The man behind me then yelled “Excuse me! We are waiting to order!” The girl returned with a disgusted expression on her face like we were hassling her.
I then said “Are you actually open? Can I actually order something, I’ve been here a while” she again pulled a face at me. I told her that her attitude stinks and ordered. The whole time looked completely pissed off like we were being totally unreasonable.
I have worked for 15 years and owned food establishments and even had my own business in training staff for customer services and to tell you the truth I have never seen a more vile piece of work as that particular staff member. She should NOT be working there! Her attitude, lack of professionalism and rudeness is totally inexcusable and I will be sending this same complaint directly to the store and every avenue I can find.
I will be gong back to the venue, but only to check out if there are any improvements.

Thanks for the food poisoning I experienced last week and into the weekend, after the Tao concert on the 28th of January.
I had one of your Nutella with Hazelnut and whip cream Crepes, and was sick for three days.
I was with a partner who ate everything I did that trip , and the only thing I ate different was that Crepe.
Thank you for an experience I will never forget.

Not impressed. My boyfriend and I were on South Granville and craving crepes. So we made a natural choice, cafe crepe. Big mistake to eat in. We walked in and stood around for a few minutes before seating ourselves. Our menus came 5 minutes later and 5 minutes after that, our server took our drink order. 10 minutes later, our drinks finally arrived. Our food order was taken at that time. Did they forget about us? Could we at least have been acknowledged with a simple, “your drinks will be ready soon.”??? Boyfriend ordered a panini, and I ordered a savoury crepe with a side salad. After about 15 minutes, my salad and his panini arrived. But what about my crepe?
I was told that it was coming. It finally arrived, but 10 minutes later. The food was great. But then came the next point of disappointment and absolute disgust….. A couple came in and sat down at a table next to us, waiting for their take-out. The guy was holding a dog in his jacket. Sick! How can people think it’s okay to bring an animal into a food-service establishment??! What makes it worse is that each staff member and manager of Cafe Crepe walked by this couple (who by the way were sitting near the front door) at least a dozen times, and not one if them told the couple that it is against Health and Safety, and FoodSafe regulations to have an animal in a restaurant. There were 4 empty tables outside that would have been suitable for these people. The possibilities are endless as to how they could have dealt with this. I have been in the food and restaurant industry for 8 years now and have turned away several people for this very reason. Sure some people get pissed off, but that has b=never stopped me. I hope Cafe Crepe re-train their staff and management in dealing with the public and in the rules of health and safety. However, they will never again get any of my business. I would rather move back to Paris for a great crepe.
