Burrard - Vancouver Restaurants

Scotia Theatre Vancouver

The Scotiabank Theatre in Vancouver (map, 900 Burrard St., Vancouver, BC, Canada, phone 604-630-1407) is a large movie theatre located in downtown Vancouver at the corner of Burrard and Smithe. Formerly named the Paramount, this movie theater has 9 screens and shows all the latest new releases. Inside the Scotia Theatre you’ll find stylish, modern decor, big screens with comfortable reclining seats, and several fast food restaurants including Taco Bell, Burger King, and KFC.

View the theatre’s website for the latest showtimes. Below are some photos of the Scotia Theater taken from Vancouver’s Burrard Street (which is accessible by the Burrard Skytrain station (subway).

If you’re actually looking for a Scotiabank Banking Branch with ATM, there is a full service branch just up the street at the corner of Burrard and Nelson (map).

Another movie theatre in the downtown area is Tinseltown Theatres, which is in the International Village Mall at 88 W Pender, across from the Stadium Skytrain station.

Sushi Maki Japanese Cuisine

Sushi Maki Japanese Cuisine (989 Hornby Street, Vancouver, BC, Canada, phone: 604-689-0111) is a small Japanese restaurant downtown with excellent prices and great quality salmon and other fresh ingredients.

Pictured below are the Toro Sashimi (fatty tuna) and California roll combo (around $7.25), and the Hornby Roll ($5.95). Both selections were very delicious!

Griffins at the Hotel Vancouver

Griffins at the Hotel Vancouver (900 West Georgia Street, Vancouver, phone 604-684-3131) is a decidedly upscale and yet casual restaurant in the sumptuous Hotel Vancouver in the middle of downtown. Most of the patrons at lunch were wearing business attire, but this was not surprising considering that the restaurant is located very close to Vancouver’s main business and financial district. The attraction here is the lunch buffet which is a somewhat formidable $27, but at this price offers a good degree of quality as well as the expected quantity. Pictured below are some of my choices from the buffet table: there is a variety of cold and hot selections including seafood, salads, soup, cuts of meat and pasta dishes, as well as some very tempting desserts.
