Pub - Vancouver Restaurants

SFU Pub (Burnaby)

Simon Fraser University (web site, 8888 University Drive, Burnaby, BC, Canada) has a student-run pub (the “Highland Pub”) in the centre of campus, that serves a good selection of food as well as the usual drinks. The pub’s web site (click here) is the place to go to check out the upcoming events, which include live music nights, promotional fund-raisers, and televised sports events. The menu has been recently revamped to compete with trendy spots such as Cactus Club, and the prices have been lowered as well. I enjoyed my prawn curry rice bowl (around $8.00, pictured below) which was quite tasty!

Dix BBQ and Brewery (Vancouver Downtown)

Dix BBQ and Brewery (web site, 871 Beatty Street, Vancouver, phone 604-682-2739) is a large restaurant/pub located very close to BC Place Stadium and GM Place Stadium in downtown Vancouver. The kitchen handled our group of 17 people flawlessly, and we were satisfied with our entrees such as Whole Chicken Breast ($12.95, pictured below) and their famous pulled pork sandwich. Their in-house brewed beers such as Red Truck Ale are some of the best in town.

Library Square Public House (Vancouver)

Library Square Public House (web site, 300 W. Georgia St., phone 604 633-9644) is a popular pub and hang-out place located in downtown Vancouver next to the Vancouver Public Library. Decor is tastefully minimalist with some smaller art pieces by Emily Carr students. Large TV’s are perfect for keeping tabs on the game, and across the street you’ll find Queen Elizabeth theatre and only a couple blocks away, GM Place and BC Place Stadium. Along with the usual pub fare, the food menu is strictly sandwiches and burgers, unless you are there after 4pm when they also serve steaks and chops. I really enjoyed my chicken and cheddar sandwich which was served with a fresh hot house tomato slice and a side Caesar salad (pictured below).
